Letter of Recommendation for the Rev.Dr.Ron Barnes and the FirstClass Communication System

During the month of June, 2002, Ron Barnes and his lovely wife came to the Diocese of Eastern Michigan to install, excite and train our leaders in the use of the FirstClass Communication system. Over a period of 30 days, Ron visited all of our Convocation areas and put on Workshop after Workshop introducing the intricacies of the system.

Now four months later, I can testify that over 200 diocesan leaders are using the system, and finding it the most useful communication tool that they have ever used. It would be hard for me to envision our diocese without it, now that we have begun to use the system.

Here are some of the reasons I like this communication tool:

 1. The data for the system lives in a diocesan hub in our diocesan office. No one has to use space on their hard drives.
2. The data is always there, no matter what computer you use to access it.
3. The system is customized for diocesan use, plugging into the needs and culture of the diocese.
4. The system is totally customizable. You can program the interface to work for you the way that you want it to. You can give to sub groups their own ability to create conferences and private chat spaces. You can make conferences for all diocesan committees, task forces, etc. No more printed minutes or agendas (unless you want them) - it all can go on FirstClass.
5. It is your system. There is no advertising. You can give it your own graphics and character.
6. It is easy and fun to use.
7. It is a tremendous bargain. Ron's month in your diocese alone, is worth the price of the system. This is the best communication bargain, bar none.

Ron is a good teacher. He believes in this system and gives it his full attention. He is a good person to work with. I give Ron and FirstClass my highest possible recommendation.

To Whom It May Concern:

Re: Computer Communication Consulting for the Church

I want to recommend the offer of the Reverend Ron Barnes to consult with the church on Diocesan Computer Communications Systems. He is well qualified to do so.  Fr. Barnes established an informal system in the Diocese of New Westminster, which was adopted in 1996 as the official online communications system for the diocese.  It is called NWnet, and is widely appreciated. He has completed his Doctor of Ministry in this area.

Fr. Barnes has been very helpful not only to the diocese, but also to parishes and individuals who use NWnet. His work has been thorough and professional.

Kindest regards,

(Original signed)

The Right Reverend Michael C. Ingham
Bishop
