Biographical Page for Fr.Ron Barnes

I was born in Toronto in Sept 1934, graduated with a BA in philosophy and history from the University of Toronto in 1956, and in theology from Trinity College, U of T, in 1960. In between, I worked in the engineering department of Bell Telephone Co. of Canada.

Ordained to the Diaconate in 1960, and to the priesthood in 1961, I spent 9 years working in parishes in Northern Ontario.

In 1969, I moved to the Diocese of New Westminster (BC).  Parish priest of St.Barnabas New Westminster, from 1969 to 1975; St.Clement's North Vancouver from 1975 to 1988; and St.John the Apostle, Port Moody, from 1988 to retirement, June 30, 1999. Through the years, I have served as the Regional Dean of Westminster, the Clerical Secretary for Synod and Diocesan Council, a member of the Technology Group, and the Communications Committee.

Along with others, I installed the FirstClass System for the Lambeth Conference in Canterbury, England. I graduated with a Doctor of Ministry in "Computer Communication for the Church" in 1997 from United Theological Seminary, Dayton, OH.

In June 1997, I retired as a parish priest, according to the Rules of the Anglican Church of Canada, which state that a priest should retire at age 65, and proceeded to work full time in the Communication
area. As well, I was appointed as the Interim Senior Port Chaplain of the Port of Vancouver, Mission to Seafarers, following which I also cared for several small parishes in the Diocese.

In November 2005, I moved to Kelowna BC, where I am now living in the Okanagan Mission area. However we spend a number of months each year travelling in our 5th wheel to other parts of Canada and the US, installing FirstClass Systems.

I am a licenced Channel Partner for Open Text Inc, the makers of FirstClass software. My company, CCI-Church Consulting Inc., is solely responsible for the installation of FirstClass Systems for the Church, and the Training of clergy and laity in the operation of FirstClass systems.

Church Consulting Inc is available to go to any diocese or church group to install a FirstClass Communication System, followed by 2 weeks of Training Workshops around the Diocese teaching priests and laity to use this easy system.
